The Mechamato Movie is a prequel movie to the animated series Mechamato The Animated Series produced by Animonsta Studios with Astro Shaw as co-producer (their first animated film production) and first released on December 8th 2022. The film follows an origin of Amato encountering MechaBot in a fallen and destroyed prison spaceship in the forest near Kota Hilir town, where Amato eventually masters MechaBot and later hunted by Grakakus, the evil Power Sphere hunter.

Synopsis[]

Amato witnesses and stumbles upon an alien spaceship carrying the bad robots of galaxies in prison. One of them, Mechabot breaks free and both escape the chase of another robot, and soon, fight off the main antagonist, Grakakus.

Mechabot and Amato must team up and save their city, friends and family from the chaose ensuing.

Plot[]

Amato is learning the "Perfect Practice" for Silat, but is not upto the mark and is suggested by his trainer Tok Sah to do more better. He takes leave for his friend Pian's house where he has to discuss and check their school science project. Pian's father Aman is a renowned scientist and billionaire owner of DeStar Corporation, who is for days tracking a comet that would fly by from earth soon. Amato takes leave with his and Pian's project and heads home. In simultaneous shots, in a far point from galaxy is an alien "Prison Ship" cruising through space to it's target, carrying the cosmic notorious robots who are witnessing a duel match. The Ship is also happen to carry a "power sphera", named Mechabot. All of a sudden, there is an attack initialed from the cruise of Grakakus, a power evil semi cyborg humanoid alien who intendents to enslave the robots and capture all power spheras including the last, Mechabot. With no escape and counter attacks failing, the ship is maneuvered towards earth; it is the same "comet" that is tracked by Pian's father Aman. Grakakus follows the ship to earth.

In returning back to home, Amato witnesses the ship falling through sky and crashing in the mountain valley of Kotar Hiller. He immediately reaches the place to see wreckage, and meets MechaBot, who is initially startled and fires a warning shot, threatening him. This awakens one of the robots, Troket (that was in duel), attacking both while they tried getting away. Meanwhile, the a secretive entity "Maskmana" also happens to see the events whole time, while he collects the alien space sample of the Ship. Mechabot shows his mechanizing capabilities first time by temporarily upgrading his bike so they can escape. Next morning, Amato wakes up thinking that yesterday night's events were just his imaginations until his father asks him to take care of his school project "robot", which reminds him of the encounter. He excuses himself out to the garage, where he and Mechabot exchange the recounts, sayings, while also learning about each other; Mechabot can mechanize and transform any inanimate object to it's superior upgrade with new functions. Amato seeks to explore more, and sooner tricks him into giving his "Mechanizer" to assign himself as Mechabot's new master.

Troket that chased them back in the night reappears, seeking revenge on them for disturbing and almost destroying him while he planned to escape the ship. Mechabot and Amato fight him off but wen he still doesn't give up they jetpack away themselves with Mechabot into action; no sooner when Troket reattempts to crash them. One of the rockets launched creates chaos at a high suspension bridge, where they conjoin themselves into "Mecha-Amato". The rampage is sooner handled by them but forgetting their jetpack, they free fall and Amato is hit in head where he recalls some flashes of Mechabot's past and about his master. Troket is pushed out to waters and damaged. The robots of Grakaus arrive to retrieve him when Maskamana appears and apprehends them all. He is sooner held up by Grakakus and reveals about Mechabot in city nearby and his new master "Amato".

Next morning, Amato sees news of the past day of him being hailed, and he hastes that it is all a made up. At school, he tries to project Mechabot as a joint project and Pian, but fails to impress and is gradeed failed. He notices the same leg disabled girl, Mara, he saved from the bridge chaos but damaging her wheelchair, and she seems skeptic of him and his "project". After school Amato still tries to tell Pian about the alien robot he got and paired up with, and is also seen by Mara. During the conversation, One of the droidss spots and chases down the duo, and they end up separating with Pian and Mara behind. Mechabot uses a rickshaw puller auto and the soon escape after. They are able to evade off the bots; and are on a return journey to Amato's home where he learns about General Grakaus, Mechabot being a power sphere and the evil intentions of General to invade planets.

Just then, both are interrupted by rocket fires and they crash on the seaport of Kotar Hiller. Troket, who they previously encountered twice has now teamed up with Grakakus and latter indulges to face-off to capture Mechabot. Seemingly desperate to defeat Mechamato, he blasts them deep inside the cargo ship, injuring them. during an attempt to mechanize for a blaster, Mechabot overrides himself and Amato to his previous master's flashback: when Grakakus tried to apprehend Mechabot, and as a last resort, he threw him away and got got killed instead. This results in Amato passing out, and saves time for Maskmana to rescue him out. Even though as he fights, Maskmana is injured, but is able to rescue Amato and deliver him to med bay at his place. Pian and Mara pay a visit his father Aman for knowing about Amato. He says that me might have been gone for some place, while fixing wheelchair of Mara.

Amato wakes up to see injured Tok Sah visiting him, he inquires about Mechabot to which he replies that he is under observatory maintenance due to it having conducted a heavy memorization of his past. Amato later paid visit by Aman and the mayor of the city, Andy, and soon learns the fact the all three are primal participants of "Project Maskmana", and They had their eyes over twice times: when ship crashed and when he had duel with Troket. They explain him about their motives to stay resilient, which was hindered until He contacted the robots and lead a follow up behind him leaving the place, he goes to the cnanl side of city and meets his friends, while also keeping the secret of Maskmana[s] away from them. Just then, Grakakus and his droids arrive to capture Amato, but seeing him fleeing, nab his acquaintances as hostages.

Grakakus damages the city's monorail tracks to lurk Amato saving the passengers, just then Tok Sah as Maskmana arrive to rescue them while also noticing the heroic gestures of Amato. Grakakus is able to overpower Maksmana, but not before he lurks him away with Mechabot in his possession. Maskmana lands at the DeStar premises and engages off with ensuing Grakakus. Amato sooner arrives through one of the flying droids to look for Mecabot, who is still in process of being repaired but also erasing the connection of him with Amato. This shocks him and he tries to persuade about his connection and friendship, to which Tok Sah replies that it would be dangerous for him to continue being master, and it is the Maskmanas that could handle and use Mechabot to bring balance and peace.

Amato pleads and reaffirms himself now responsible of actions and for Mechabot to which Tok Sah gives a thought. Above them, Andy and Aman are gravely injured as Grakakus had brought in some power spheras, and seeing no option, they insit on calling the third help. It is Amato who responds and reaches up the place, while Tok Sah revealing that he has reprised his role and is purely compatible to work together, also asking them to let him try. Amato weakens Grakakus, to which he reveals the capturees in his ship and threatens to throw them off if Mechabot is not handed over. He does so, but every hostages are eventually saved by the teamwork of all three.

Grakakus tricks separates Mechabot and Amato, but when he attempts mechanize, Mechabot is able to resist and flees off the grasps to help Amato. They then mechanize with the damaged helicopter and finish off the rest of fight by destroying Grakakus' power spheras, and ravaging down his own ship over him in the end. Few weeks later, Amato and his friends pay a visit to undergoing diagnosis of Aman, and he state his commintment to safeguard the city and the world while maintaining secrecy. Just then, their watches blink an alert of escapee robots on loose and Amato brings up to state his first mission.

In the post credits scene of years after the events, Amato is now a grown up adult with his wife and thier son BoBoiBoy; He insists on having a power sphere for him, so Amato places a link order of Ochobot for BoBoiBoy, meanwhile the screen flickers with the change of delivery agent from the actual to Adu Du. In an extended mid credit scene, the Maskmana men (Tok Sah, Aman and Andy) with Amato's father, Tok Aba, visit the wreckage of the Prison Ship to see it being used as a sale shop of all the parts and bodies of the robots by Bago Go who hastingly welcomes his "customers".

Release[]

The movie was originally planned to be released in 2020 earlier than the animated series, due to several COVID-19 pandemic, the movie was postponed several times until finally being released in 2022. On July 8th 2022, Monsta has announced the release of Mechamato Movie on December 8th 2022 in Malaysian and Brunei cinemas. Later, Monsta released first 10 minutes film via YouTube and Astro GO in order to attract more fans to watch the film. For international release, it begins with Indonesia on March 1st, 2023 with CBI Pictures (who distributed BoBoiBoy Movie 2 and WIRA by Adrian Teh - have connections with Astro Shaw) as the distributor following by Singapore on March 9th, 2023 with English dub from Miami. For Japan release, it has been confirmed by director that they will release the film on January 19th, 2024 on the winter season.

Comic Book Adapation[]

A comic adapation of the Mechamato Movie titled Mechamato: Wira Baharu was released shortly after the film premiered. The book adapts the movie into a screenshot comic format, similar to the ones found in the official BoBoiBoy magazines. The book includes exclusive concept art of the characters and locations in the film. It is only available in Malay.

Trivia[]

  • The movie was initially planned to release in December 2020, but it was delayed due to Covid-19. Its release was further pushed back to March 2021, then to June 2021, then to late 2021 and the current date of release is in 2022.
    • Moreover, the movie was planned to release before the Mechamato but was altered the plan to release the Animated Series first and then the movie.
  • The movie is set in a fictional city of Kota Hilir, like the previous Mechamato. However, the city does contain many never-seen locations which aren't included in the Season 1 Animated Series like Jonker Street and Destar Building.
  • The movie highlights the various arts and culture of local pride in Malaysia as spoken by Nizam Abd Razak.
    • This can directly be seen from the Melaka-based architecture, famous historical buildings, art and murals of the great warriors, local clothing styles and martial arts known as Silat that Amato often performs.
    • The famous Destar Building is also taken from the outstretched Royal Headdress.
  • Astro Shaw, who distributed BoBoiBoy Movie 2 in 2019, is also distributing and co-produced this film. Astro Shaw are known by producing Polis Evo franchise (with Blackflag) and Abang Long Fadil franchise (with Skop Productions)
  • For Japan release, AEON Entertainment will distributed the film in Japan market for their cinema chain
